The (Un)Happy Opera Manager ... From the David Bell version of Phantom ... (Never heard of that version? That's okay, neither had I.) Supposedly, this version was originally produced in Chicago and it features several actual Tchaikovsky melodies in the score. Add this one to the Lloyd Weber, Kopit-Yeston, Ken Hill versions, etc. I played "Monsieur Moncharmin" who is one of the opera house managers. He is MEAN ! Verbally abusive to his business partner, he also attempts to kill the new owner of the opera house, but eventually gets his justified end (by guess who?) Yep, them "Phantom's" are always full of murder and treachery ... and cheesey falling chandeliers! |
